We were delighted to take part in Beamish Museum’s annual Flag & Empire weekend in May 2017. Alongside many of our friends from the mini police, run by Durham Constabulary, we proudly paraded our flag around Beamish town and pit village. The parade was introduced in 1902, at the end of the Boer War, to remind children and young people of their duties as British citizens. Making a positive contribution and helping others is something we still foster in our pupils today.
Steve’s Animal Ark
We were very lucky to have a special visitor in school. He brought lots of amazing creatures for us to look at and touch. We enjoyed learning all about these interesting animals.
African Children’s Choir Visit 2017
We were delighted to welcome our friends from the 46th African Children’s Choir. After singing with them at the Bethany Christian Centre, it was great to get to know them better when they came to join us for an afternoon in school. We know that this link has created a lasting friendship, and we look forward to writing to them on their return to Uganda.
Destination Judo visit school
It was very exciting to receive a coaching session from Destination Judo. We learnt the basic techniques of stance, strength and stamina in our taster sessions of this fantastic sport.
Life cycles in Year 2
Living Eggs have provided Year 2 with an incubator and ten eggs to enable us to witness the hatching process for ourselves. It was very exciting watching our little fluffy friends enter the world and we just love taking care of them.
World Book Day 2017
We had a fantastic time celebrating our favourite authors, stories and characters on World Book Day. From two to eleven years old, we all joined in to show the world just how much we love and value reading.
West Rainton Nursery Grand Opening
