Productions 2016

History was made in December 2016 when our nursery pupils took part in their very first school production along with Reception class. ‘Shine star, shine’ saw the traditional nativity story told from the perspective of the stars in the sky. Along with this production, years 1 and 2 teamed up to perform a hoedown nativity called ‘Prickly hay’, and our KS2 team produced a wonderful musical performance of ‘Grease’.

Shakespeare Schools’ Festival

We were very proud to take part in the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival for 2016. Year 5 worked incredibly hard to learn a 30 minute production of Macbeth, true to the original script, to perform in Durham’s Gala Theatre in November 2016. We thoroughly enjoyed rehearsals and our first theatre workshop in September was a really exciting careers experience.

Hey Presto!

Pupils in reception and year 1 have enjoyed taking part in workshops led by New Writing North this autumn. The children are looking forward to seeing the performance in West Rainton’s Jubilee Hall in October before doing some writing all about their experiences.

Visit from New York Brass

What an enjoyable afternoon we had when New York Brass came to visit Year 4 in July as part of Durham City’s streets of brass festival. The children, who have been learning brass instruments all year with Mr Freney, took part in an intense workshop before playing ‘A Message To You Rudy’ for the entire community at home time.
